In the winter of 2007 I travelled from the UK to Poland, as part of that journey I visited the infamous Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp where 6,000 people were put to death each day by the Nazi regime.
On returning to the UK a fault in the film processing cycle damaged the negatives leaving them reticulated and seemingly unusable. Unexamined for 11 years the original negatives were incorporated into another project after which I was moved to make the accompanying images.
